Barcelona Skirt by Amy Butler

I made this today while the baby slept. I love it and can't wait to wash it so it will get that frayed look of the pattern front.  My skirt is unlined. I folded over the top at the stay stitching and topstitched with a 1/4'' seam. I also hemmed the skirt up 3 1/2. I am wearing it now and it fits wonderfully and was a breeze to make. I used Heather Ross's Tadpole fabric in pink. AB sure knows her stuff.

Naptime

I accomplished something today during nap. Not too much but enough to keep me satisfied. 

First up-yellow bib with lower case 'd' for Devon in Amy Butler's Belle Stripe. 

Middle bib is more AB Belle cupcake paper with pink cotton sateen frosting. I think it needs a cherry, sprinkles or something.
Third is a cute little 'cable stitch hat'. I am loving it. It is my favorite so far. It has a nice little wool felt puff at the top.

Cloth Diaper Liners- New

Devon is a cloth diaper baby.

1. It saves money in the long run (alot of money)

2. It is better for baby (more absorbant, breathable, cuter)

3. It is better for the environment (just google disposable diaper waste and see what I mean)

However, there is one flaw in my cloth diaper plan, diaper rash. True, cloth diaper baby tend to get less diaper rash but not no diaper rash. Rash cream interfers with the absorbability of cloth diapers so it is not recommend. Enter the Cloth Diaper liner. This idea came when Devon woke with a rash and I was determined not to continue to solve the problem with dispoabables. I mean, wasn't that one of my cloth diapers pros? These cloth diaper liners are one size fits all and come in great prints and colors. I have some prints for both girls and boys. These liners will be available in my etsy shop for 3 for $12.00. 

Shrinky Dink Pendant

A few weeks ago after an indulgent night to take out, I had a Shrinky Dink attack brought on by the #6 plastic container that my dinner came in. Inspiration came from the neat monogram pendants I see in boutiques and friends necks. I decided to make my own. Here is what I came up with. 

I have yet to find a chain that I like, so I haven't worn it yet. But I love it. I chose 'D' for my daughter. I am going to make some more for the G-moms.

Baby Birdy Bib

Among too many undersized clothes, Devon received more  bibs than any baby should need. Yet she has found away to mess up each one on a daily basis. 

Most of said bibs are plain and in need of something special. No baby of mine is going around with naked bibs. My neighbors expect more from me. 

I used the same bird template as my fabric magnets. I have many more bibs to go but more than a few are done. 

Twirly Skirt

I have been dying to make the twirly skirt for some time but a lack of kids kept me from this project. Devon is still too young for a twirly skirt but she has a cousin and some neighbors who are not. 
The green twirly was made for my cousin's little girl who is 2. I used Denyse Schmidt Katie Jump Rope. I did not add the tie.  I love these prints together and this skirt in general. It just looks like so much fun!

The pink skirt I made for our neighbor. They have a 4 year old grand-daughter. Our neighbors are always bringing us super cute clothes and many great meals when Devon was first born. Just recently they mowed our lawn while we were out. How awesome is that!? I used Joel Dewberry and also eliminated the tie. I just love this pattern!

Long time, no see

I must begin with an apology. It has been so hard to make time for blogging. The baby is getting bigger, busier and has decided to grow some teeth. No evidence of said teeth yet but she is giving it serious consideration. It amazes me everyday how busy my day can be with nothing more than naps, feedings, playing, repeat.
I have been fitting in sewing time and that is thanks to housing several play areas in my sewing room. It keeps me sane and gives her some time to figure things out on her own. I am trying to wrap up some projects I started before the girl was born (over 5 mo ago!) and some needed projects have also sprung up. One of those new but "I gotta have it" projects was a camera bag. Garrett gave me a new camera for my birthday so I can take really kick ass pictures of the girl to blanket the wall of our stairs. I felt so conscious of how precious this camera was to me when I would tote it around in the diaper bag. This was no place for camera equipment. I drew up some schematics and a few days and many interruptions later, my camera bag was born. I hope to be better about posting from now on. I really missed it.
