Giant Doorstops- Take 2

I wanted to say a Great Big Thank You to Reprodepot Fabrics Blog for including a link to my Giant Door Stops. I realized that while it might be a cute picture, it is not informative. So here let me enlighten and include a little tutorial for my Giant Doorstops. I am without Photoshop or Illustrator (our computer crashed and the new one doesn't have anything but the Internet right now) so it will have to be basic. Let me assure you that once I am back with my usual cast of tools I will include a more useful pattern with instructions.  As of right now, I am prepared to offer a handsome Power-point slide with the basic shapes and measurements for the New and improved PDF, printable paper pattern. Complete with traceable pattern pieces. This prints on 4 sheets of paper. Giant Doorstop Pattern (270K).

All instructions are on the printable pattern but for those who do not want to print 4 sheets of paper I will leave the below instructions and cutting info. For those who want to save time and trouble, print away, my friends!

Giant Doorstop:
Supplies:
1/2 yard of quilting cotton
1/2 yard of light to medium weight fusible interfacing
Coordinating Thread
Approx. 2 lbs of beans (I used pinto beans from my grocer. They were $1.29/bag!)
Approx one small pillows worth of stuffing (I recycled mine from an old pillow. If you buy a new bag, I think one small bag should be good)

Pattern Pieces:
Top:  4.5'' Square (cut 1 from cotton and interfacing)
Bottom: 8'' Square (cut 1 from cotton and interfacing)
Side: 4.5'' across top, 8'' across the bottom, Height (from middle of bottom to middle of top) 10''. The measure of the side length is 10.25'' (Cut 4 from Cotton and interfacing)

Instructions:

1. Cut out your pattern pieces and according to the above guidelines, cut out your cotton and interfacing pieces
2. Fuse your interfacing to the WRONG side of your cotton pieces
3. Measure up from the bottom and down from the top 1/4'' on each side piece on both side lengths.
4. Pin two side pieces right sides together and stitch using a 1/4'' seam allowance starting and ending at your 1/4'' marks. Back stitch at both ends. Repeat Step 3 with remaining side pieces until all side piece are sewn together and you have a trapezoidal tube :)
5. Pin Bottom piece to the side pieces right sides together and carefully stitch with 1/4'' seam allowance, pivoting at each corner
6. Clip and trim each bottom corner as needed to make for smooth turning and neat corners.
7. Pin Top piece to your Doorstop, right sides together. Stitch with a 1/4'' seam allowance leaving a 2'' gap on one side
8. Clip and trim top corners are needed
9. Turn your door stop inside out, using a turning tool if needed (I used the blunt end of my scissors)
10. Fill your Doorstop with beans, using as much as you need.
11. Top off your Doorstop with stuffing to fill out shape and to make it extra cuddly (nothing I love better than curling up next to a fire with a good book and my Doorstop!)
12. Slip Stitch your gap closed.
13. Employ your Doorstop at the closest door in need of urgent stopping.

Hmm.. might just have to make one for up here - we have a heavy frog that we're using and Sydney keeps on picking it up and dropping it on the hardwood... Thanks for the tut!
